Of all the things that I figured could take me out, an appendicitis was not one of them. I'm grateful this didn't happen while I was out in the wild, although a helicopter ride has always been on my bucket list.
Stayed with my PCT 2016 homie, Jesse (Strider), in Boulder, CO a couple nights ago and woke to horrible pains in my abdomen, barfing ensued. Went to the ER and sure enough my appendix was inflamed.
The surgery went well and now I'm in recovery mode. The FKT attempt may be out for me this year, but we will see how recovery goes and when I can get back on my feet.
Now, sans appendix, I'll be even more #ultralight and ready to crush mountains even harder.
